Eastbourne, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – Top seed Richard Gasquet reached the final of the Aegon International with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Denis Istomin Friday.
The top-seeded Frenchman converted three of his six break points and was unbroken in the match as he claimed victory in 71 minutes.
In Saturday’s final, Gasquet aims to win his 11th ATP World Tour title in his 22nd final when he faces defending champion Feliciano Lopez.
Lopez advanced to the final after beating Sam Querrey, 6-4, 7-6(4), in 77 minutes, improving his record against American to 5-2. Lopez saved the lone break point he faced in the second set, and won 91 percent of his first-serve points.
On the women’s side, eighth seed Angelique Kerber and unseeded Madison Keys will play for the title.
Kerber defeated former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, while Keys reached her first-ever WTA final by beating Heather Watson, 6-3, 6-1. Kerber has a 2-0 record against Keys.
The 26-year-old Kerber is 3-7 in her career finals, including runner-up finishes in Sydney and Doha this season. She last won a title in Linz, Austria, last year.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Becker is one win away from reclaiming the Topshelf Open title he won in 2009 after reaching the final with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over qualifier Joao Sousa.
The German fired 13 aces and saved four of the five break points he faced to prevail in 88 minutes.
In Saturday’s final, Becker will face 26-year-old Roberto Bautista Agut for the first time.
The Spaniard reached his second ATP World Tour final after edging Austrian Jurgen Melzer, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(4) in a battle that lasted two hours and 40 minutes.
On the women’s side, Coco Vandeweghe and Zheng Jie will clash for the title.
Vandeweghe downed eighth seed Klara Koukalova, 6-4, 6-2, while Zheng defeated Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-1, 6-3.
