LTE: Obama Owns Iraqi Quagmire

Dear Editor:

As a Vietnam Era Navy veteran, and having close relatives who served in every war from the Civil War to the Gulf War, I am disappointed with President Obama’s dithering foreign policy. (Note: I am not a partisan person, and I have been a registered Independent for many years).

President Obama’s complete withdrawal from Iraq has allowed the Sunni/al Qaida terrorists to make a huge comeback in Iraq, and threaten peace in the Middle East. It could ultimately set the stage for the establishment of bases to promote attacks throughout the world, including the United States. Is Afghanistan next?

Obama’s inattention to Iraq’s previous request for air support in May 2014 has led to the current threatening situation. The 5,000 American contractors and embassy staff are in danger of attacks by the al-Qaida Islamists. The injection of Iranian troops in the battles further exacerbates the conflict, and could allow Iran to gain a foothold in Iraq.

Obama’s pivot away from the Middle East has emboldened radical Islamic terrorists in Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya and now Iraq. They know he is all talk and is ready to hand out lots of carrots and punish enemies with a wet noodle.

Gee, how many years later it was “found” who should be blamed, Bush the one who claimed they were there (but never found them) or Obama the one who inherited the unnecessary mess, too often and too quickly we go to war, we send our young people and then don’t take care for them afterwards. We support the military industrial complex not peace and freedom, we force our customs on people that don’t want them and wonder why we are hated, we make countries ready to be plundered by our capitalism with our war machine, Bush and his cronies pushed this country into debt and a morality that only considers our own self interest. It’s time to make the corporations pay for their use of the military for their own gain, a tax on the use of nations brought under “control” and then used for financial gain. A conflict tax if you will.

Qualia – no obvious rhetoric on your part (sarcasm if you can’t catch it)
what don’t you like – capitalism? would you rather have socialism? which by your post here and previous post, you would like to make sure no one gets ahead in life (well probably not ahead of you).
Obama – has no blame – OK. Look at the VA hospital mess that has been going on over the past two years (reported) – who’s watch is that on? We continue to fight terrorism, rest assured it will happen again if we don’t, but now that Obama is doing it, it’s a good thing? Guantanamo prisoners are set free by this president only to assist in attacks against us (sorry – us meaning United States Americans) again.
Debt – have you looked at the numbers (trillions of dollars) this president has pushed on us? Have you looked at the health insurance mess this president has pushed on the working people?
Again – obvious that you want everything for FREE and make sure corporations pay for IT – small business get caught up in the insurance mess as well – sure that is fine too, because anyone who owns a business is greedy.
Speaking of forcing our customs elsewhere, what example do you have? what about here? the minority is ruling us to “political correctness” by offending the majority to please the minority.

Thank you for the compliment beenthere (rhetoric – the art or skill of speaking or writing formally and effectively especially as a way to persuade or influence people) is there something wrong with that?

Interesting you think you know so many things about me, Capitalism is fine if everyone pays their fair share, corporate tax rates have been falling for years, I only want them to pay their honest share, they don’t now. I never said that Mr Obama has no blame in anything, I’m saying not everything. There is a lot he does I don’t agree with. Marx said the capitalistic system will collapse and I do agree with him, I wonder how they intend to make money once they have taken everything from everyone, if people don’t have money to spend how will they make their money, this is where we are headed.

If the US and I don’t mean just the government stopped trying to push capitalism on everyone else there would not be as many people out to destroy us, the quest of profit and resources for us began with the destruction of native American tribes, they were doing just fine before the system of monetary priority came to America, we steal from others by force and wonder why they object. We are the cause of our own problems and are blind to our own actions, then blame everyone else.

What makes you think I want anything for free, because I’ll stand up for the little guy against the big guy? Again if I felt corporations paid their fair share of taxes I believe this country would be in much better shape now and social responsibility would not be an issue. Until they do I’ll continue to object to the current capitalistic overindulgence. Is socialism better? I don’t know but I do believe as a society taking responsibility for our people we need to have a melding of principles to survive as a country,

The debt began with Mr. Bush, it was fine with Mr. Clinton, then Mr Bush and his cronies destroyed that.

The ACA was originally a conservative concept but they are idea people not action people and still object to good fair health for all Americans, the cost is an investment in the people of this country, a wise and profitable investment unlike the goosed up depreciation they enjoy as well as all the other tax breaks that make the owners rich while the production workers have to slave for a minimal salary, what I see is profit trumps morality. Not every business owner is greedy, the big guys are.

Custom intrusions, the middle east, they had their customs until oil became a tremendous profit source, we and others moved in to take advantage of that bringing with us our customers, criticizing their way of life forcing ours upon them, fast food joints, religious judgement, moral judgement, polluting their land (Bhopal), everywhere we go we feel we need to convert others to our way.

I think you are incorrect on your assumption of who is the majority, just because you and your friends may have a specific opinion and few challenge that locally doesn’t mean you are the majority, across the US. In most cases “political correctness” is an obvious concept objected to by those who care not for the feelings, opinion’s or faith of others not like them.
Of course to clarify, these are my opinions based on the world I see around us, not just the world of the US.

This “war” is a complete waste of American lives. We were lied to by the BUSH administration from the very beginning. It seems that some people think we are the police of the entire world. Do you really think that just because we’re over there losing the lives of young men, our country is going to be a safer place? I think maybe you’ve bought into the lie if you do. How about we send troops into Syria, Afghanistan, and all the other countries that have terrorist based in there boundaries. It’s a totally different world today than it was in the times of the previous “big” wars (One and two). Flexing our muscles in Iran,Syria, etc. is only going to give these folks another reason to want to send terrorist here to our shores where they will actually hurt the American people. It’s been said that if we lose these “wars”, it will cost us at the fuel pump. How about we keep the fuel we pull out of the ground here, instead of shipping it overseas?
I’m getting extremely tired of hearing President Obama blamed for all the problems in this country. Problems that are, in fact, being caused by a bigoted and biased Republican party. They place blame for all their past mistakes on him, instead of owning up to them and finding solutions. War is not a solution. Next thing you know, President Obama will be accused of being behind the killing of Christ, or the bombing of Pearl Harbor. How about we start working together and finding real answers to our problems, instead of creating more?

Guess you missed where ISIS, while marching into IRAQ found the Stash of Chemical Weapons ( You remember the WMDs that the LIBERALS SAID DIDN’T EXIST ). Bush may not have been the greatest president, but at leas he had and has RESPECT for our Nation and those in the Military who defend and still defends her.

If you buy into the mirage that Obama is the poor little boy being picked on by the big bad Conservatives, you have been partaking of Jim Jones kool-aid. As for working together, GREAT. I would suggest BALANCING the BUDGET. You know the financial guidance MANDATED BY LAW to be passed and adhered to. This little stumbling block ( THE BUDGET ) wasn’t passed when Obama had a Democratic majority in the house and senate. Why, because that would have bridled them and set limits as to where they are SPENDING OUR TAX DOLLARS.

Balance the Budget ( as mandated by law ).
Get out of the HEALTH CARE BUSINESS….as well as any other business. It is proven over decades that non government involvement in business works, so stop using the government to choose winners and losers in the business world.

Give me back the AMERICA I knew as a child.

A side effect of his dithering foreign policies is that ISIS just found the some WMDs. Yes, the ones many of the mainstream media and liberals to this day insist never existed. They did exist, of course, documented by a decade of U.N. weapon inspectors.

Why exactly the Bush Administration never bothered to counter the “there were no WMDs” story is an open question whose answer probably has some sort of security justification.

It’s a safe assumption that the Obama Administration knows where any remaining stockpiles are in Iraq, which means that Obama not only pulled our troops out before Iraq was ready to stand on its own feet, but that he did so without securing an apparently large cache of chemical weapons.

And isn’t it interesting that ISIS knew exactly where to find it? .

Stockpiles of chemical munitions are still stored there. The most dangerous ones have been declared to the UN and are sealed in bunkers.

These areas of the compound pose a hazard to civilians and potential blackmarketers.

The CIA Files on the WMD stockpiles : Numerous bunkers, including eleven cruciform shaped bunkers were exploited. Some of the bunkers were empty. Some of the bunkers contained large quantitiesof unfilled chemical munitions, conventional munitions, one-ton shipping containers, old disabled production equipment (presumed disabled under UNSCOM supervision), and other hazardous industrial chemicals.
