Washington D.C., MD, United States (4E Sports) – Gavin Floyd suffered a possible season-ending right elbow fracture Thursday while leading the Atlanta Braves to a 3-0 win over the Washington Nationals
The 31-year-old right-hander limited the Nationals to two hits through the first six innings.
But when Floyd opened the seventh inning with a curveball he felt a pop.
An X-ray exam performed at Nationals Park showed that Floyd suffered a fracture of the olecranon, the prominent bone of the elbow joint.
“It wasn’t painful, it was just kind of surprising,” Floyd said.
Floyd will fly to Atlanta on Friday to be further evaluated by Braves doctors and ascertain when he might pitch again.
