Seattle, WA, United States (4E) – Famous American radio personality Casey Kasem has passed away on Sunday at the age of 82, his representative confirmed.
As a family member told CNN, Kasem, who suffered from Lewy body disease, died from sepsis, a complication brought about by an ulcerated bedsore. He was at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor in Washington at the time of his death.
A statement written by Kasem’s children Kerri, Mike and Julie, released on Kerri’s Facebook page reads, “Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends.” His second wife, Jean, was not by his side.
It went on, “Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad.”
Kasem has been a subject of controversy this May when his wife Jean transferred him from a nursing home to a private residence in Washington, amid a legal feud over his health care, among other matters.
One June 21, Kasem’s daughter Julie will be holding a memorial celebration at her home in California. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
