Washington DC, MD, United States (4E Sports) – Erika DeSouza and Angel McCoughtry each scored 16 points to lead the Atlanta Dream over the Washington Mystics, 75-67 Sunday at Verizon Center.
Sancho Lyttle scored 10 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter and Tiffany Hayes had 14 for the Dream (7-3).
The Dream won the battle of rebounds, 41-30, and offensive rebounds, 17-4.
They also held an 18-0 advantage in second-chance points, finished with a 20-8 advantage from the line while turning the Mystics’ 21 turnovers into 21 points.
McCoughtry scored five as the Dream closed the first quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 21-14 lead.
They never ceded the lead from then on.
The Mystics were able to tie the game three times in the third and fourth quarters.
But the Dream used a 13-3 blast led by Lyttle’s six points to bury the Mystics 73-62 with 43 seconds remaining.
Bria Hartley scored 13, Ivory Latta had 12 and Monique Currie added 11 to lead the Mystics (5-6).
