Orem, UT, United States (4E) – Three children were injured when their clothes caught fire after a pouch containing charges for a cannon exploded during a summer parade in Orem, Utah on Saturday.

Part of the Orem Summerfest Parade was a Civil War reenactment in which a group fired a cannon and a spark landed on pouch with explosive charges setting it off, according to Orem police Lt. Josh Adams.

Three crying children, who are part of the reenactment group, emerged from the smoke caused by the explosion with clothes of two of them in flames, witnesses said.

Bystanders ripped off their burning clothes and doused them with water. The injured children were hospitalized later and their conditions were reportedly stable.
