Red Sox offense explodes in ripping Indians

Boston, MA, United States (4E Sports) – A.J. Pierzynski, Mike Napoli and Dustin Pedroia hit two-run doubles to lift the Boston Red Sox over the Cleveland Indians, 10-3 Friday at Fenway Park.

John Lackey (8-4) allowed three runs and six hits in the first three innings, but gave up just one hit in his next 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Indians took the initial lead after Carlos Santana blasted a two-run homer in the second.

Then Pierzynski hit a two-run RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a triple RBI to push the Red Sox up 3-2 lead in the bottom of the inning.

The Indians tied it in the top of the third on an RBI double by Michael Brantley.

Mike Napoli doubled both runners in to put the Red Sox up 5-3 in the the bottom of the third.

The Red Sox added four runs in the seventh to make it 9-3, ignited by Pedroia’s two-run double followed by a Napoli single before Daniel Nava doubled in Ortiz.

Justin Masterson (4-5) left after logging only 59 pitches in two-plus innings. He walked the first two batters in the second and allowed two more free passes in the third.
