Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Singer Morrissey has cancelled his remaining shows in his U.S. tour because of a respiratory infection he contracted in Miami.

His team wrote on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, “It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US Tour has been cancelled. The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted. Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”

As explained in a lengthy statement in Morrissey’s official website True To You, the singer’s illness stemmed from fellow singer Kristeen Young, who opened for his show at the Miami Knight Hall on May 31. Young, according to the statement, “confessed to a ‘horrendous cold.’”

“Kristeen was asked to step down from the immediate upcoming shows, but instead she decided to leave the tour entirely,” the statement continued. “Morrissey and the band wish her well and hope she is now in good health.”

Meanwhile, Young has expressed via social media that she was not the cause of the former Smiths front man’s illness, and that she was asked to leave the tour. “I am very sorry that Morrissey is not feeling well,” she wrote, “but I will not tolerate these lies particularly about my health. This is really too much and bizarre.”

Morrissey’s U.S. tour, promoting his 10th studio album “World Peace is None of Your Business,” kicked off in San Jose California on May 7 and was supposed to end on June 21, but was postponed cancelled after May 31 (and eventually) due to his condition.
