NY, NY, United States (NewsBahn) – A change of venue did little to alter the result, as the Los Angeles Kings drubbed the New York Rangers 3-0 in game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
Jeff Carter scored with less than a second left in the opening period and the tally stood up for the Kings, who won the first two games of the series in overtime and moved within a win of their second title in three years.
Jake Muzzin and Mike Richards added insurance tallies in the second period for the Kings, who could notch a sweep with a game 4 win Wednesday at MSG.
The Rangers pumped 31 shots on goal at Jonathan Quick but couldn’t beat the Kings netminder.
The Kings had just 15 shots on goal by comparison.
