New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The San Diego Padres drafted Johnny Manziel in the 28th round as the 837th overall pick of the 2014 MLB Draft.

The team even assigned him a nickname, Johnny Baseball, on the Padres Twitter account.

Manziel, who did not play baseball in college, thanked the Padres for the pick and said it was a great day.

Having been selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 24th overall pick in the NFL draft in April, it is wondered whether he would be allowed to play, or would even pursue playing, in the minor leagues during summer.
