Yan Gomes’ 3-run homer leads Indians past Rangers

Arlington, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Yan Gomes hit a three-run homer that lifted the Cleveland Indians over the Texas Rangers, 8-3 Saturday at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

The Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the third on a sacrifice fly by Elvis Andrus.

The Indians tied it in in the fourth on David Murphy’s sacrifice fly.

Then Gomes homered plating Murphy and Carlos Santana for a 4-1 Indians lead.

Adrian Beltre ripped an RBI double and came home on a wild pitch by Josh Tomlin as the Rangers scored twice in the sixth to pull within 4-3.

A Lonnie Chisenhall single in the seventh allowed the Indians to pad their lead to 5-3.

Ryan Raburn grounded into fielder’s choice to shortstop that scored Chisenhall for a 6-3 lead.

Then Santana’s two-run homer capped a four-run seventh that buried the Rangers.

Tomlin (4-2) scattered seven hits, struck out five, walked none over six innings as he and picked up the victory for the Indians.

The Rangers’ Nick Tepesch allowed four runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking four.
