Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actors Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have ended their 18-year marriage and are on their way to get a divorce.
The couple’s representative said in a statement to US Weekly, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family, and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Griffith has filed for dissolution of marriage from the “Zorro” star on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences as reason. Their date of separation remains undisclosed.
Furthermore, aside from seeking spousal support, the “Working Girl” star is seeking joint legal custody and sole physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter Stella.
Griffith, 56, and Banderas, 53, tied the knot on May 14, 1996 and have one child together. She was previously married to actor Don Johnson, with whom she has a daughter Dakota, and Steve Bauer, with whom she has a son Alexander.
