Woodworkers, quilters, photographers and other artisans and hobbyists are invited to participate in the fundraising event. Craft donations may be dropped off at the library through June 6.

Tickets will be available for $1 each, beginning June 6. Winners will be drawn at 2 p.m. June 17.

Proceeds of this event will benefit the DuBois Public Library.

Race to Save the Bats, Parker Dam

White-nose syndrome, or WNS, has the potential to affect nearly all of the cave hibernating bats of Pennsylvania. If this happens, there are serious consequences for everyone living in the Keystone State –even those folks who don’t particularly like bats. 17th Annual River Front Canoe & Kayak Race

A nine-mile “Down River Race” starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Curwensville Civic Center and ends at Lower Witmer Park in Clearfield.  Registration for the “Down River Race” will be from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Curwensville Civic Center. The race entry fee is $20 per person.

Also, a “Youth and Special Needs Sprint Race” starts at 1:30 p.m. at Lower Witmer Park in Clearfield.  Registration for the youth sprints and special needs classes will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Lower Witmer Park. The race entry fee is $10 per person.

The Leviathan Fishing Team will present the “Lake Glendale Go Big or Go Home Musky Shootout” on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. It is 100 percent catch and release. Junior TV Producer

Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Kinetic, DuBois TV, DuBois Public Library and Media Minded Youth Club want you to go digital. You will learn to be a junior TV producer for DuBoisTV.net and Comcast Cable Channel 19.

Attendees of the digital media youth training program will learn how to produce local TV shows, use the latest digital media tools, create dynamic audio/video and graphics, air shows on local cable, and help their community grow.

During the Art Walk on the Block, you will learn how to make your own TV shows with digital media instructor and TV producer Sam Ettaro. You will meet members of the Media Minded Youth Club and hear all about their program and help make a TV show featuring the DuBois Public Library’s new Children’s Section.

Art Walk on the Block, downtown DuBois

The Art Walk is designed to showcase and celebrate the work of local artists and craftsmen, as well as to bring the community into the downtown area. Art work will be hosted by the businesses in the downtown area.

Community members will take the Art Walk into businesses and shops located along the Brady Street and West Long Avenue corridors to visit the host businesses and their guest artists.

Tribute Concert at CAST

The stage of the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre will come alive with the sound of music in a special way on Saturday, June 7. At 7 p.m., some of the finest musicians in the region gather to pay tribute to a local great musician, the late Ed Montini of Shawville.

There isn’t any admission for the concert; however, a freewill offering will be accepted and appreciated.  Everyone is welcome to attend the concert; doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The idea a tribute concert “Close Enough for Jazz – Book 3″ for Ed Montini started much the way any kind of tribute begins.  Musicians throughout the area were deeply saddened by the loss of a friend and wanted some sort of way to pay respect to him.

The CAST Building, the area’s non-profit cultural center, is located at 112 E. Locust St. in downtown Clearfield.

Queen’s For a Cause Royal 5K Run/Walk & Car/Bike Show

Clearfield County Fair Queen Taylor Goodman will host the third annual Queen’s For a Cause Royal 5K Run/Walk along with a Car & Bike Show at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds on Sunday.

Funds raised throughout the day’s events will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network and local causes. Since the inception of Queens for a Cause (formerly Queens for Kids), more than $125,000 has been donated to the CMN and local charities.

The day will kick off with the Royal 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. Registration for the Royal 5K is from 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. in front of the Grandstand at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. Registration fee the day of event is $25.

Awards will be presented to the top three overall male/female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age group, male and female. There aren’t any awards for walkers.

This year’s race is themed Disney and will have special appearances from some of the most popular prince/princesses.  Those wishing to join in the royal spirit may dress in costume for the race. Tutus, tiaras and pixy wings are welcome. A special prize will be given to the participant with the best royal appearance.

The Car & Bike Show will begin with registration from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. The registration fee is $10 per entry. The first 75 registrants for the Car & Bike show will receive a dash plaque.

The Clearfield Writing Community is dedicated to the avid writers of Clearfield County who are interested in improving their skills, getting tips and information from other writers, and getting their work out into the public. They provide information and educational tools for all serious writers in the area who hope to achieve publication. A Facebook page is established for members to plan meetings and events, post their work, critique others and generally encourage one another to write and create.
