San Francisco, CA, United States (NewsBahn) – San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the team are reportedly working on a long-term deal to make the young star wealthy and keep him in California’s Bay Area for years to come.

Kaepernick led the Niners to the NFC title game last season, but they fell to the Seattle Seahawks.

Kaepernick said he will concentrate on football until a deal is possibly completed, however.

“I’m letting my agents handle all of that, and I’m worried about being out here, trying to get better with my teammates and get ready for the season,” Kaepernick said. “I’m playing football regardless.”

He is 26 and boasts a 21-8 record as the team’s starter. He’s being investigated but has denied wrongdoing for a “suspicious incident” in Miami.

Kaepernick is making just over $1 million this season and ESPN reports he’ll seek up to $20 million per year in a new contract. His current deal expires after this season.
