Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Mike Aviles hit a three-run shot and drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth to carry the Cleveland Indians to a 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday at Progressive Field.
Aviles went 3-for-4 while Lonnie Chisenhall added three RBIs for the Indians, who improved to 26-30 after winning their second straight game.
Trevor Bauer lasted six innings, yielding two runs on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts while Brian Shaw got the win after pitching 1 2/3 frames with three strikeouts. Cody Allen tossed a perfect ninth for his third save of the season.
Rockies starter Franklin Morales gave up six runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts while Charlie Blackmon had four RBIs for the Rockies, who dropped to 28-27 after losing five of last six games.
Rex Brothers (2-3) absorbed the loss after giving up the game-winning hit to Aviles.
The Indians raced to a 4-0 lead in the second frame after Chisenhall’s RBI single and a three-run shot by Aviles.
The Rockies got two runs back in the third behind DJ LeMahieu’s RBI double and Blackmon’s run-scoring single.
In the sixth, Chisenhall smacked a two-run shot for a 6-2 lead but the Rockies scored four runs in the seventh behind a solo shot by Corey Dickerson and a three-run homer by Blackmon.
