Los Angeles, CA, United States (NewsBahn) – Ex-Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer will reportedly purchase the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion according to reports.

The NBA must give final approval to the deal, which became necessary after recent racist remarks by owner Donald Sterling became public.

Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who was dragged into the controversy thanks to comments by Sterling, was pleased with what transpired.

“Steve Ballmer owning the Clippers is a big win for the City of LA and all the people who live in the City of Angels!,” he tweeted.

Ballmer’s bid reportedly exceeded groups led by music mogul David Geffen ($1.6 billion) and L.A. investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh ($1.2 billion), according to ESPN, which also reported the $2B figure.
