Elvira M. Howe, 95, of Hawk Run died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Windy Hill Village.
Born Sept. 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Adelaide V. (Mears) Harris. She married Charles P. Howe on Sept. 18, 1937 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Morrisdale; he preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1976.
Mrs. Howe was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hawk Run, where she was also a member of the church altar guild. She was a mother and a homemaker. Mrs. Howe was a 1936 graduate of the Morris Township High School.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Luke Howe; a sister, Mary Louise Wilson; and a brother, Frederick “Fred” Harris. She was the last of her generation.
Mrs. Howe is survived by a daughter, Suzanne L. Askey of Hawk Run; four sons, Harry W. Howe and his wife, Marian of Erie, James P. Howe and his wife, Loretta of Kylertown, Charles F. Howe and his wife, Joan of Hawk Run and Patrick W. Howe and his wife, Ruth Ann of Elizabethtown; 16 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 26 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hawk Run, with the Rev. Clifford A. Johnston and the Rev. William R. Walker officiating. Burial will be at the Ashcroft Cemetery in Hawk Run.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg.
