Myrtle Beach, SC, United States (4E) – Three men were found shot dead and one man was wounded in a shooting incident at a beachfront hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Saturday night.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the dead victims as Devonte Dantzler, 21, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, 22, both of Summerville, SC, and Jamie Williams, 28, of Ladson, SC. The wounded person, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital, the Myrtle Beach Police Department said.

A witness said a fight in the sidewalk in front of the hotel preceded the 11 p.m. shooting. A crowd watching the fight then scattered when gunfire erupted.

One man was seen running before collapsing after apparently being shot.

There were crowds of tourists on the street and along the beach’s new boardwalk when the shooting occurred. Among the crowd are Memorial Day vacationers and visitors to the annual Atlantic Beach Bike Fest, a weekend rally for sports bike enthusiasts.

No suspect was immediately taken into custody as detectives investigate the crime scene. Police officers draped towels over the balcony of the hotel’s breezeway to shield two bodies from people on Ocean Boulevard.

The shooting happened two hours after a separate shooting in the area wounded another person, Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes said at a news conference.
