Actor Matthew Cowles passes away at 69

New York, NY, United States (4E) – Actor Matthew Cowles, the husband of multi-awarded actress Christine Baranski, has passed away on Thursday at the age of 69, his manager confirmed.

TsuTsu Stanton wrote on Twitter, “#Matthew Cowles passed away on 5/22.I had the pleasure of being his manager. He was a very gifted and kind man who loved life and everyone.”

Meanwhile, Cowles’ cause of death remains unknown. He is survived by his wife Baranski, with whom he was married for over 30 years, and their two daughters Isabel and Lily.

Cowles was most known as the villain Billy Clyde Tuggle in the long-running ABC soap opera “All My Children,” where he was nominated several times for a Daytime Emmy award. His over four-decades-long career saw him appear in a slew of other television projects such as “Loving,” “Lonesome Dove,” “Oz” and “Life on Mars.”

He has also appeared in film such as “Me, Natalie,” “The World According to Garp,” “White Fang 2,” “Nurse Betty” and “Shutter Island.”
