Sue Bird scores 16 as Storm hold off Mystics

Washington DC, MD, United States (4E Sports) – Sue Bird scored 16 to lead the Seattle Storm over the Washington Mystics, 73-65 Saturday at Verizon Center.

Camille Little had 15 points, Tanisha Wright scored 14 and Crystal Langhorne contributed six points and 14 boards as the Storm (1-3) avoided their second 0-4 start in franchise history.

Emma Meesseman scored 10 first quarter points as the Mystics took a 16-12 lead.

She was scoreless in the second quarter as Kia Vaughn scored four for the Mystics, who led 26-24 at halftime.

In the third, Alysha Clark scored six straight to ignite a 16-5 Storm run which Shekinna Stricklen capped with two staright 3-pointers as they overtook the Mystics, 45-35.

The Storm kept the Mystics at bay early in the fourth. Then Ivory Latta’s 3-pointer triggered a 7-0 run as the Mystics cut their deficit to 64-60

Bird sank a 3-pointer with 1:30 remaining to douse the Mystics rally and give the Storm a 67-60 lead.

Meesseman scored 12 to lead the Mystics (1-2).
