Flyers hoops bring in $36.7M to city of Dayton

Dayton, OH, United States (4E Sports) – The University of Dayton Flyers garnered $36.7 million for the city of Dayton during their four NCAA South Region games from March 18 to 29.

A report issued by Dayton’s city commissioners and reported by ESPN revealed that $34.5 million was generated from replays and television clips, plus $726,321 from social media posts.

The team’s Twitter handle, @daytonflyers, received more than 90 million impressions during that period.

The No. 11 seed Flyers beat No. 6 Ohio State, No. 3 Syracuse and No. 10 Stanford before falling to overall top seed Florida.

The run brought about celebrations that cost the city more than $57,000 in overtime pay to police officers, according to the Dayton Daily News
