Mitch Moreland’s homer propels Rangers past Blue Jays

Arlington, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Mitch Moreland hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning to help the Texas Rangers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-2 Sunday at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Consequently, the Rangers avoided a three-game sweep by the Blue Jays.

Juan Francisco’s home run in the fourth gave the Blue Jays an initial 1-0 lead. Alex Rios had a two-run triple in the same inning that put the Rangers up 2-1.

Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Blue Jays in the sixth to tie the game.

After Moreland’s homer in the seventh, Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre had run-scoring hits in the eighth.

Rangers rookie right-hander Nick Martinez left with a 2-1 lead after five innings.

Aaron Poreda (2-0) got the win after a scoreless seventh, and closer Joakim Soria pitched a scoreless ninth.

Blue Jays’ starter R. A. Dickey allowed three hits and four runs.
