Montreal, QC, Canada (NewsBahn) – Seven different goal scorers and another big performance from goalie Henrik Lundqvist: just about everything went well for the New York Rangers in Saturday’s 7-2 pounding of the Montreal Canadiens in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Key forward Derek Brassard is day-to-day, however, due to a back injury he suffered when taking an open-ice hit from Montreal defenseman Mike Weaver in the first period

“He came on my blindside,” Brassard said after the game, “but it’s the playoffs and I need to be aware of being hit.”

The Rangers aren’t sure about Brassard’s availability for Monday night’s game 2 and neither is the player himself.

“Not sure. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. I didn’t feel like I could help the team [after the hit] so we’ll see how I feel tomorrow,” Brassard added.

Brassard’s been an important contributor with four goals and seven points this postseason.
