Honea Path, SC, United States (4E) – A teen has been charged with involuntary manslaughter Wednesday after killing a 26-year-old man who asked her to shoot him while wearing a bulletproof vest.

Taylor Ann Kelly, 18, fired a handgun on Blake Randall Wardell, 25, inside a garage around 3 a.m. to test the Kevlar vest he was wearing but missed and hit him in the chest. Wardell bled to death when police arrived at the home on Broadmouth Church Road in Honea Path.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said the victim was shot in the chest, just above the vest.

Eight to 10 other people were in the garage and saw the shooting. The police found no sign of struggle or fight in the crime scene. There was also no sign of heavy drinking and drug use.

Kelly was detained at the Anderson County Detention Center and her bond was set at $10,000. She faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the charges.
