Notre Dame, IN, United States (4E Sports) – The Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly wants to keep Michigan, along with MSU, on its schedule.
Michigan is on Notre Dame’s schedule once more — on Sept. 6 — before the series disappears.
Michigan State, which had played Notre Dame every year since 1997, is off the schedule until the rivalry briefly resumes in 2016 and ’17.
Coach Brian Kelly wants that to change.
“We don’t start or end [discussions about the future] without having Michigan or Michigan State part of that conversation,” said Kelly.
On the other hand, Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said they had no conversations with Notre Dame regarding scheduling.
Notre Dame’s new scheduling agreement with the ACC motivated its decision to suspend the Michigan series, which resulted in Michigan coach Brady Hoke telling a crowd last May that Notre Dame was “chickening out.”
