Philipsburg Man Killed in Decatur Twp. Accident

DECATUR TOWNSHIP – A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old Philipsburg man, Joshuah G. Kline, on Monday along state Route 53 south of Coal Run Road in Decatur Township.

According to the state police at Philipsburg, Kline and Wesley S. McMasters, 23, of Patton were traveling north. The front of the Kline vehicle collided with the rear of the McMasters vehicle.

Then, the McMasters vehicle traveled into the southbound lane, coming to a rest on the west berm. The Kline vehicle traveled off the roadway along the east berm and struck a tree.

Kline was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Coroner Michael Morris. Kline’s passengers, Cody A. Golding, 22, of Munson and John D. Phelan, 23, of Philipsburg and McMasters were all taken to UPMC Altoona.

Kline and his passengers were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. State police said it’s unknown at this time if McMasters was wearing his seatbelt.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Osceola Mills, Houtzdale, Sandy Ridge and Philipsburg fire personnel, Sandy Ridge and Moshannon Valley emergency personnel and PennDOT.
