Mike Aviles’ 3-run homer powers Indians past Rays

St. Petersburg, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Mike Aviles cracked a three-run homer as the Cleveland Indians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-3 Friday at Tropicana Field.

James Loney had a sacrifice fly in the fourth and David De Jesus added an RBI double in the fifth to put the Rays on top 2-0.

Asdrubal Cabrera, heating up of late, homered in the sixth as the Indians cut their deficit to 2-1.

The Indians had a big seventh inning, starting with Michael Brantley’s homer that tied the game.

A Yan Gomes RBI pushed the Indians in front, 3-2.

Then Mike Aviles blasted a 3-run homer to allow the Indians to boost their lead 6-2.

In the ninth David DeJesus ripped an RBI double off John Axford with two outs that made it 6-3.

Corey Kluber racked up nine strikeouts with no walks issued in 6 2/3 innings for the Indians, while Jake Odorizzi struck out 11 and scattered five hits over five shutout innings for the Rays.
