Pacers pummel listless Wizards for 2-1 series lead

Washington, DC, United States (4E Sports) – Paul George had 23 points and eight rebounds to lead the Indiana Pacers over the Washington Wizards, 85-63 Friday at Verizon Center.

Roy Hibbert added 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks to help the Pacers take a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series.

The first quarter concluded at 17-all as George scored six and Lance Stephenson added five for the Pacers while Trevor Ariza had eight points and John Wall scored six for the Wizards.

Bradley Beal had three points as the Wizards started the second quarter with a 7-2 burst to take a 24-19 lead.

But Hibbert scored six to lead the Pacers to a 13-1 run for a 31-28 lead with 1:20 left in the period.

An Ariza 3-pointer helped the Wizards cut their deficit to 34-33 at halftime.

The Wizards managed to taste the lead for the last time in the game at 37-36 with 9:29 left in the third.

Then George scored seven in a 19-4 Pacers run for a 58-41 lead with 1:25 remaining in the period.

Behind 60-45 to start the fourth, Beal scored four to put the Wizards within 60-49.

But George scored five and West added four points in the Pacers’ 18-9 run to take a 78-58 lead with 1:43 remaining to silence the Wizards.

Wall had 15 points and six assists for the Wizards but also committed seven turnovers. Beal added 16 points but only shot 6 for 19.

Game 4 is Sunday night in Washington.
