San Antonio, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Kawhi Leonard scored 20 while Tony Parker had 16 points and 10 assists as the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a win over the Portland Trail Blazers, 114-97 Thursday night at AT&T Center.
Manu Ginobili added 16 points, Marco Belinelli scored 13 and Diaw had 12 to help give the Spurs a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Blazers had a taste of its first lead of series at 7-4 with Nicolas Batum’s 3-pointer with 9:47 remaining in the first quarter.
The game was tied four times later before the Spurs took a 29-26 lead at the conclusion of the opening quarter.
Boris Diaw scored six straight points to ignite a 23-8 run that gave San Antonio a 54-36 lead with 7 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Spurs led 70-51 at halftime and 79-59 at 7:52 in the third.
Then Wesley Matthews scored seven unanswered shots to put the Blazers within 12 points at 81-69 with 2:14 left in the third.
The Spurs managed to widen the gap at 87-71 at the conclusion of the quarter.
The Blazers succeeded in cutting their deficit to a single margin 99-91 midway in the fourth.
But Parker’s jumper and back-to-back 3-pointers by Leonard and Ginobili had the Spurs leading 110-93 that put the game out of reach.
Nicolas Batum scored 21, Damian Lillard had 19 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.
