Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Mike Aviles’ two-out single in the ninth inning lifted the Cleveland Indians over the Minnesota Twins, 4-3 Wednesday at Progressive Field.
Brian Dozier’s RBI gave the Twins a 1-0 lead in the third.
But Michael Brantley had a two-run double in the third and Yan Gomes hit a leadoff homer in the fifth to put the Indians ahead 3-1.
The Twins had a big seventh, with a Danny Santana single and a an RBI double by Dozier making it 3-all.
In the ninth, an Aviles two-out single gave the Indians the winning margin.
John Axford allowed a hit and walk in the ninth but escaped the trouble to get his first win of the season for the Tribe.
Indians starter Danny Salazar went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs while striking out seven.
Ricky Nolasco tossed six innings of six-hit, three-run ball for the Twins, fanning nine batters. Casey Fien took the loss, falling to 3-1.
