Traffic Signals to be Fully Operational on Route 255 Project near I-80 DuBois/101 Interchange

DUBOIS – Work will continue this week on PennDOT’s Route 255 project near the Interstate 80/101 interchange.

Motorists should be aware that the traffic signals at the interchange will be placed into normal operation after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Until that time, the signals will be in flash mode.

The switch to fully operational traffic signals represents a major change in this area. Drivers need to remain alert for sudden stops as other motorists adjust to this modification.

When all work is finished later this year, area drivers will enjoy more efficient travel and improved traffic flow through this area.

This project started in May of 2013. Overall work includes milling and paving, bridge deck repair, cleaning and upgrading of pipe culverts and inlets, water-line extension and installation of new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps. All work is weather and schedule dependent. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc. is the contractor on this $3.7 million project.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24-hours-a-day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 680 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available by calling 5-1-1, and regional Twitter alerts are available on the 511PA Web site.
