Peterson’s early goal propels Sporting KC past Crew

Kansas City, KS, United States (4E Sports) – Jacob Peterson and Claudio Bieler both scored to lift Sporting Kansas City over Columbus Crew, 2-0 Sunday at Sporting Park.

A blocked shot fell to Peterson eight yards from goal from where he directed it inside Steve Clark’s left post in the 10th minute.

Claudio Bieler then sent the ball into an open net in the closing seconds to secure the win.

Eric Kronberg had four saves for the win that vaulted Sporting (4-2-2) into a three-way share of the Eastern Conference lead with New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls.

The Crew (3-2-3) dropped from second to fourth with the loss.
