One dead, 1,000 evacuated due to Oklahoma wildfire

Edmond, OK, United States (NewsBahn) – A wildfire has torn through central Oklahoma, leaving one 56-year-old man dead and causing the evacuation of 1,000 others.

Fire officials report the blaze is 75 percent contained though at least 150 more homes are threatened according to KFOR.

Bulldozers will also be utilized and the National Guard called in to finish off the fire, reports NewsOK.com.

“With the wind conditions expected to pick up throughout the morning and afternoon, we still have some concerns,” Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow told reporters Sunday night.

NewsOK.com also reported the man who died had earlier refused to leave his mobile home.
