Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – Michael Brantley homered and drove in three runs to lead the Cleveland Indians in a 12-5 rout of the Chicago White Sox Friday at Progressive Field.
Carlos Santana doubled to left while Ryan Raburn and Yan Gomes had two RBIs each to give the Indians a 5-0 lead in the first.
Singles by Alejandro De Aza and Adrian Nieto and a passed ball by Gomes allowed the White Sox to close in at 5-3 in the second.
Santana belted a homer to push the Indians lead to 6-3.
A single by Michael Bourn in the third gave the Indians a 7-4 advantage.
In the fifth, Jose Abreu homered for the ChiSox, but Brantley homered to restore a 4 runlead for the Indians.
A wild pitch by Bryan Shaw in the sixth resulted in De Aza scoring, cutting the Indians’ lead to 8-5.
But Nick Swisher had a single and Brantley added a two-run RBI to give the Indians an 11-5 lead.
A wild pitch by Maikel Cleto buried the White Sox deeper in the sixth.
