CLEARFIELD – Work to replace the Shawville Truss Bridge on Route 970 will get under way this week. Phase one of the project will feature construction of the new bridge upstream from the existing bridge.
When all work completes next year, area drivers will benefit from smoother, safer travel over a modern structure.
Crews worked last week to place signage for the construction zone. Beginning May 5, construction of the new bridge will begin and periodic, short-term lane closures may be needed.
Motorists should remain alert for flaggers in the roadway. All work will take place during daylight hours, with work hours anticipated Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Fridays 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
