San Francisco, CA, United States (4E) – In order to compete with rivals Samsung and Apple, LG Electronics plans to launch its newest flagship product — the LG G3. LG has sent out an invitation to the media for the launching event which is a two-day event starting May 27.

LG has been known to launch in various cities for its products. The G2 and Optimus G smartphones were released in a similar manner.

“We can’t say when [the mobile unit] will swing to profits. If we reach a market share of 10%, we believe the company will be able to see a very meaningful operating profit margin, but we can’t definitively say when that will be,” a LG company executive said during its earnings press conference, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The G3 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch quad high-definition screen. The quad high-definition screen will have a better resolution than the latest smartphones, including the Samsung S5.

LG Electronics desperately tries to get back in the smartphone game after posting losses since the third quarter of last year. Aside from Samsung and Apple, LG also has to compete with low-cost Chinese manufacturers Huawei Technologies, Lenovo, and upcoming Xiaomi.
