Tony Parker maneuvers Spurs past Mavs for 3-2 series lead

San Antonio, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Tony Parker had 23 points and five assists as the San Antonio Spurs never trailed in beating the Dallas Mavericks, 109-103 Wednesday at AT&T Center.

Tiago Splitter had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Tim Duncan added 16 points and 12 rebounds, Manu Ginobili chipped in 19 points and Kawhi Leonard had 15 points and for the win.

The Spurs now lead 3-2 in their Western Conference first-round series.

Ginobili hit a 3-pointer to give the Spurs its biggest lead of the game at 24-11 midway in the opening period.

But Devin Harris, Vince Carter and Monta Ellis combined in a 13-3 run to bring the Mavs to within 27-26 at the end of the first quarter.

The Mavs kept it close early in the third, trailing by just a point in four occasssions until a Carter 3-pointer tied the game at 37 at 7:41.

It was 39-all after a Monta Ellis layup and 42-all after another Carter 3-pointer.

Then Spurs outscored the Mavs 14-5 to build a nine point advantage with less than a minute remaining in the half.

It was back-and-forth in the third, which ended with the Spurs leading 79-71.

The Spurs kept the Mavs at bay, leading by seven to 12 points until Carter’s 3-pointer with 3 minutes left pulled his team to within 98-94.

But Parker’s 3-pointer sparked a 7-2 Spurs run to get a 105-95 lead with just 29 seconds left.

Vince Carter led the Mavs with 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting while Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 on 10-for-20 shooting.

Game 6 is set for Friday in Dallas.
