New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Billionaire Donald Trump has added the Turnberry Golf Resort, which played host to the British Open four times, to his long list of properties.
The acquisition marked the 17th property in the prestigious Trump golf portfolio and will be the second major golf resort acquisition made by Trump in the last three months, the other being the 500 acre Doonbeg Resort on the Atlantic Ocean in Ireland.
“It is an honor and privilege to own one of golf’s greatest and most exciting properties. I intend to invest many millions of dollars (pounds) in order to bring the hotel to the highest levels of luxury,” Trump said in a statement.
“When completed, I believe that the Turnberry Hotel will be the finest and most luxurious hotel in all of Europe,” he added.
Trump also assured that the iconic Championship Course will not in any way be touched or altered without the approval of the Royal & Ancient.
The Course has hosted four British Opens, seven Senior British Opens, and one Women’s British Open.
