Denmark’s Noma named world’s best restaurant

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Noma, a restaurant located in Copenhagen, Denmark, has caught the top spot in this year’s San Pellegrino World’s Best 50 Restaurants, it was announced on Monday.

Upon accepting the award, Noma head chef Rene Redezpi said, “Thank you for believing in us. In the last year my staff and I looked into each other’s eyes and said ‘let’s just really, really work hard.’ We made a plan and said ‘let’s make this the best year we’ve ever had.’”

“But to have this is a whole surprise, none of us expected it,” he continued.

Now in its 12th year, the list contains mostly European restaurants. There are also ’50 Best Restaurants’ lists for Latin America and Asia.

According to its profile in the list, Redezki and his team are preparing to open a Noma branch in Japan in early 2015.
