Kennesaw, GA, United States (4E) – A 19-year-old package handler at a FedEx warehouse in Kennesaw, GA shot six co-workers Tuesday morning before turning the gun on himself.
The shooter, who was not immediately identified, was seen by an employee dressed “Rambo” style before he went on a shooting rampage shortly before 6 a.m., according to the Cobb County Police. Responding police found the suspect dead in the facility’s bay area three hours later. He apparently shot himself.
A shotgun was found beside his body and Molotov cocktails believed prepared by the gunman were found inside the facility, Sgt. Dana Pierce told reporters.
The injured consisted of males aged 19, 22, 28 and 38 and women aged 42 and 52. Two shooting victims remain in critical condition at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. They suffered shotgun wounds.
FedEx employee Liza Aiken described to reporters the shooter as wearing black and bullets were strapped to his chest like Rambo, the ex-Green Beret character portrayed by Sylvester Stallone in the movie of the same title. Aiken said the boy was friendly and jokes around but immature. She complained the teen to management last week for shining a laser scanner in her eyes.
More than 100 officers from Cobb County, the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the ATF and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security searched the FedEx facility after the shooting and found the unused explosives.
FedEx driver David Titus told The New York Post he saw the gunman shoot a security guard in the midsection outside the building, before going inside to open fire.
Another driver, Michael Hogland, said the gunman pointed a gun at his boss.
