UConn’s DeAndre Daniels to enter 2014 NBA draft

Storrs, CT, United States (4E Sports) – Junior forward DeAndre Daniels will join four teammates from the 2014 national champion UConn Huskies to the NBA draft, the school announced Friday.

The 6-foot-8 California native had 27 points and 10 rebounds in a Sweet 16 win over Iowa State, and 20 and 10 in a national semifinal victory against overall top seed Florida.

Daniels averaged 13 points and six rebounds this past season before stepping it up in the run to the national title.

NBA executives projected Daniels to be taken late in the first round up to early in the second round.

UConn will also lose star guard Shabazz Napier and fellow seniors Niels Giffey, Lasan Kromah and Tyler Olander.

Meanhwile, guard Ryan Boatright will return to UConn for his senior season.

Boatright averaged 12.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds this past season.
