New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – J.R. Smith scored 30 to lead the New York Knicks in a rally before beating the Toronto Raptors, 95-92 Wenesday at Madison Square Garden.
Cole Aldrich finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Knicks, who won without Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton.
Kyle Lowry scored 17 in the first quarter, when the Raptors made 11 of 17 shots and led 28-21.
Greivis Vasquez scored seven as Raptors opened the second with an 11-2 burst that made it 39-23.
The Raptors went ahead by as much as 21 at 57-36.
Then Smith and Toure’ Murry each scored four as the Knicks ended the quarter with an 8-0 run to cut their deficit to 57-44 at the halftime.
Tim Hardaway Jr. had eight points to lead the Knicks in outscoring the Raptors 30-17 in the third to tie the game at 74 entering he fourth.
Tyler Hansbrough scored four midaway int he fourth as the Raptors used a 6-2 burst to take an 87-83 advantage.
Smith tied it at 90, while Aldrich’s dunk put the Knicks ahead with 1:23 left
A jumper by Smith made it a 94-90 lead with 21 seconds to go.
Lowry scored 22 to lead the Raptors, who finished 48-34 as Atlantic Division champions and advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2008.
