CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Fair concert/gate ticket special ends today. Concert tickets purchased by the end of the day will include free gate admission, reminded Brenda Morgan, fair marketing/promotions director.
Tickets can be ordered online via the official fair Web site, www.clearfieldcountyfair.com. Tickets purchased after today will require a separate gate pass.
This year, Grandstand entertainment includes the country band Florida Georgia Line, the rock group Halestorm and the classic country band The Oak Ridge Boys with special guest Lee Greenwood. Saturday night’s entertainment hasn’t been announced.
Entry forms for the Clearfield County Fair Queen contest are now being accepted. Forms can be printed from the fair Web site or can be requested by emailing email@example.com. Entry forms are due by June 9.
Contestants must be 16 years of age and not over 20 years old by June 1. They must be a female who is a U.S. Citizen and a resident of Pennsylvania; who is single and never been married; and who’s had no children.
Contestants must also be willing to participate in fundraising events for charity and comfortable around livestock. The contest consists of an essay that’s 300 words or less on what the fair means to the community, a speech on why to attend the fair and a personal interview.
“The Fair Queen program is more than just fair week. It provides young ladies with an opportunity to enhance their speaking, writing and interview skills, to meet public officials and learn about agriculture,” said Morgan.
“The program encourages community involvement by raising funds for charity, speaking engagements at area organizations and appearances at area events.”
The first contestant meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 10 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. Ladies who are interested but still undecided are encouraged to attend the first contestant meeting to learn more about the contest and the program. More information and rules can also be found on the fair Web site.
The Clearfield County Fair will be held July 27 – Aug. 2. For a full listing of fair events, visit the fair Web site or Facebook page.
