Vero Beach, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson will work out Tuesday for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
“We do expect to meet with Chad Johnson and work him out in Vero Beach, Fla. this week,” said Alouettes general manager Jim Popp.
The flamboyant player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco confirmed Saturday via Twitter that he will work out for the Alouettes and indicated it will be on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old Johnson was taken in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent the first 10 years of his career with the Bengals, where he had 751 receptions for 10,783 yards and 66 touchdowns.
He was traded to the Patriots in 2011 and signed with the Dolphins in June 2012, but was cut two months later after he was arrested on simple battery/domestic violence charges.
Johnson has been out of the NFL since 2012 and covered the league as fantasy analyst for CBS Sports last season.
The Alouettes, meanwhile, went 8-10 last season.
