Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Amar’e Stoudemire’s 24 points and 11 rebounds and Carmelo Anthony’s 30 points carried the New York Knicks over the Toronto Raptors, 108-100 Friday at Air Canada Centre.
J.R. Smith had 15 points, Raymond Felton 12 and Iman Shumpert scored 11 for their first win in three games.
The Knicks need to win their final three games and they’ll need the Atlanta Hawks to lose their last three games if they are to qualify for the playoffs.
The Raptors matched a season high 15 3-pointers in the contest.
They hit six baskets from beyond the arc in the first period, including three from Kyle Lowry, as the Raptors took a 26-24 lead at quarter’s end.
DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas scored six apiece in the second to give the Raptors a 47-45 lead at halftime.
In the third, DeRozan scored 11 to lead the Raptors offense but Anthony countered with nine, including a jump shot with 17 seconds left that gave the Knicks a 78-77 lead into the fourth.
The Knicks outscored the Raptors to start the fourth to lead 89-82 with 7:48 left.
Back-to-back dunks by Stoudemire gave the Knicks a 100-89 lead at 4:03.
The Raptors cut it to 102-98 on a three-point play by Lowry with 31 seconds left, but Smith answered with a pair of free throws.
DeRozan had 26 points and Lowry had 25 to lead the Raptors.
Jonas Valanciunas had 14 points and 21 rebounds.
