Calgary, AB, Canada (4E Sports) – Paul Postma scored the crucial goal while Michael Hutchinson made 35 saves as the Winnipeg Jets outlasted the Calgary Flames, 5-3 Friday at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Michael Frolik’s rising shot hit Flames’ TJ Brodie in the chest and caromed past goalie Karri Ramo at 7:23 of the first period to give the Jets a 1-0 lead.
Then Evander Kane got a drop pass from Bryan Little and ripped a wrist shot into the top corner to make it 2-0.
Jiri Hudler’s redirection at 1:04 of the second as the Flames cut their deficit to 2-1.
Carl Klingberg answered back to give the Jets (37-35-10) a 3-1 lead.
Sean Monahan scored at 11:46 and 24 seconds later Kris Russell whipped a wrist shot past Hutchinson from 40 feet out to to make it 3-all.
Postma broke a 3-3 tie at 9:16 of the third, ripping a slap shot past Karri Ramo from the blue line.
A Blake Wheeler goal at 19:33 of the final period finalzed the sscore.
Ramo had 22 saves for the Flames (35-39-7).
