Wild forward Mike Rupp suspended 4 games for illegal check

New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The NHL has suspended Minnesota Wild forward Mike Rupp four games without pay, for a late illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie during their Thursday’s game.

The NHL Department of Player Safety said Rupp will not play in Wild’s final regular-season game and first three Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The incident occurred at 10:30 of the second period when Rupp was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure. The Wild defeated the Blues, 4-2.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Rupp will forfeit $7,692.31. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
