Munich, Germany (4E Sports) – Bayern Munich advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals for the fourth time in five seasons after beating Manchester United, 3-1, in Wednesday’s second leg at Allianz Arena.

With the score tied at one apiece from last week’s match, Bayern controlled possession throughout the first half but was stunned when Patrice Evra crashed in a superb opener in the 57th minute.

Josep Guardiola’s charges swiftly leveled through Mario Mandzukic in the 59th minute before Thomas Müller and Arjen Robben completed the turnaround to end Bayern’s winless run at home to English clubs and send them through 4-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid reached their first European Cup semifinal for 40 years after beating Barcelona, 1-0, at Estadio Vicente Calderon.

An early goal from midfielder Koke helped Atletico Madrid advance to the last four for the first time since 1973-74 and end Barcelona’s run of six successive last-four appearances in the process.

After the loss, Manchester United manager David Moyes hinted that agreements are already in place to bring new players to Old Trafford.

“That’s not a question for me because my job is to get on and do the job,” Moyes said. “My focus is to get a side which gets us back into the Champions League and that’s the objective.

With the club currently seventh in the table, it looks as though they will not qualify for the Champions League next season, but Moyes is confident that he can rebuild his squad and make a comeback in 2015-16.

“We’ve not got Champions League football, that’s the way it looks,” Moyes said. “I believe that it’s not far away, hopefully it’ll be one year where we go to rebuild.

Meanwhile, the draws for the semifinal of the Champions League will take place Friday at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The draw will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino, assisted by UEFA Europa League final ambassador Ciro Ferrara and the ambassador for the UEFA Champions League final, Luis Figo.

The first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals will be held April 22 and 23 with return matches on April 29 and 30. The UEFA Champions League final will be staged at Benfica Stadium in Lisbon on May 24.
