San Francisco, CA, United States (4E) – Microsoft is falling behind in Xbox One sales to rival Sony and its PlayStation 4 console. And according to Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s new Xbox head, there have been several mistakes that caused this.

Spencer and Microsoft are revisiting those mistakes and are intent on solving them.

“There is a lot of learning that I did as a leader in the organisation, when I just heard how our message resonated with people and some of the decisions that we made, that I think were actually the wrong decisions, and we had to revisit those decisions,” Spencer said in an interview with Xbox Live boss Larry Hyrb.

Spencer didn’t dwell on the specific mistakes the company made but he did mention that the build up to the Xbox One’s launch was one of them. He also admitted the need to make the Xbox One more appealing to hardcore gamers.

Microsoft plans to correct those mistakes starting with a good showing at next month’s E3.

“E3 is a big time in our industry. We know that this E3 is really important for us. People are looking for ‘okay, what is this change in Xbox, and what does it mean to have a Head of Xbox that’s really focused on games?’

“E3 is a great gaming show and I want to make sure that when we’re there, the fans hear us and understand why we’re there,” he added.
