Ottawa, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – Max Pacioretty completed a hat trick as the Montreal Canadiens scored seven straight to beat the Ottawa Senators, 7-4 Friday at Canadian Tire Centre.
The Senators opened the scoring two minutes into the first with Zack Smith’s backhand.
Ales Hemsky tipped Patrick Wiercioch’s point shot, and Smith scored his second of the game off a pass from Mika Zibanejad to make it 3-0 for the Senators.
The Canadiens got its first goal after Andrei Markov scored off a bad angle at 7:22 of the first.
Less that two minutes later Mike Weaver’s point shot made it past a screened Craig Anderson.
The Canadiens tied it at 15:52 of the opening period as Pacioretty beat Anderson between the legs.
Lars Eller jumped on a rebound early in the second to make it 4-3 for the Canadiens at 4:09 of the second.
Pacioretty he took advantage of a Senators turnover and broke in alone to beat Anderson through the legs for his second of the night that made it 5-3 at 15:25 of the second period.
The hat trick was completed by Pacioretty at 1:09 of the third and Desharnais made it 7-3 midway through the third beating Anderson up high.
The Senators scored again with 5:53 remaining as Mika Zibanejad beat Peter Budaj for the final score.
Canadiens’ Budaj stopped 39 shots for his 10th win of the season while the Senators’ Anderson stopped 17.
